About Dental Bridges
Dental bridges can replace missing teeth. A bridge consists of two or more crowns fused to one or more false teeth. While a bridge is a good option to replace a tooth, dental implants are generally a better solution. However, since not all patients are candidates for dental implants, we provide dental bridges as restorative options. They are used in a similar way to crowns and similar materials are used for these dental restorations.
What to Expect When You Undergo a Dental Bridge Procedure
Similar to having a dental crown installed, a dental bridge requires two appointments. Your first appointment will involve:
- applying a local anesthetic to the area
- taking impressions of the mouth
- analyzing the shade of your teeth to ensure a proper match
- preparing the teeth for the bridge
Our office works with a quality dental lab to fabricate the best possible bridge. We send the impressions that we take at your first appointment to the lab. Using these impressions, the lab will then fabricate the bridge and return it to us. Then, at your second appointment, we will fit the bridge into your mouth and ensure the best possible fit.
For patients who are not good candidates for dental implants, a dental bridge can restore your teeth to their natural form and function.
