With over two full decades of experience in dentistry so far, he’s gotten very good at helping his patients escape dental pain, achieve their ideal smiles, and live healthier lives as a result. Interested in learning more about him? Just keep reading below.
Dr. Heck’s dad was a dentist who worked in Lawrence for many years, and he used to go in with him on the weekends to help treat emergencies and get patients out of pain as soon as possible. He realized over time that it made him feel really good to alleviate discomfort and leave people happier as a result. Dentistry has allowed him to indulge his creativity and talent for puzzle-solving every day, and he can’t imagine a better fit for his lifelong career.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
After attending the University of Kansas, Dr. Heck pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Today, he’s spent more time taking continuing education courses to further his knowledge than he did in dental school overall! In particular, he’s attended numerous trainings offered by Spear, Implant Direct, The Dick Barnes Group, Clif Ruddle, Mercer, and Arrowhead, along with an Osteoready implant mini residency. One of his biggest focuses is on placing and restoring dental implants, as well as being able to handle complex full mouth rehabilitation cases. He is certified in Level 1 Anesthesia through DOCS Education.
Outside of the Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Heck is blessed to have a very close and tight-knit family that does everything together. He and his wife Angie have two children named Raeleigh and Vaughn. Both of his kids are very active in sports and drama, and he loves going to watch them at every opportunity. As a group, they also enjoy gardening, walking in the woods, tending to their vineyard, and vacationing pretty much anywhere, but especially Colorado, the Cayman Islands, Mexico, Florida, and South Carolina.
When it comes to personal hobbies, you can often find Dr. Heck riding his bike, chopping wood, riding his motorcycle, hiking, or watching basketball with his son. He also LOVES fly fishing!
